The Merge – March

We’re springing into action this March as we begin growing our family of insurance products and brands. So, what do we have to offer under our Fuse umbrella:

Protect My Pockets

The eldest of our new sister companies, Protect My Pockets is the face of our specialised Income Protection Insurance. With only 9% of working adults holding a policy in 2018, we couldn’t believe people would be so careless with their income. So, we wanted to reach out and give our customers a helping hand by paying out 70% of their regular monthly salary TAX-FREE when ill or injured. Much like the brand’s superhero mascot, Income Protection could just save the day in a pinch and if you’d like to find out more, read our blog on it here.

Protect My Pets

Our second new sister company, though not quite ready to go yet, is one we’re very excited to be launching very soon. We all love our pets, the £4.5 billion we spend on them every year in the UK should make that pretty obvious, yet less than half of pet owners have Pet Insurance. For many families, a pet is as valued as any of their loved ones, so why not protect them with insurance too? We will soon be offering specialist policies for both cat and dogs with a multi-pet discount but for now, find out more on yet another blog we wrote about our new sister companies.

Release My Equity UK

This third and final sister company is largely on the backburner at the moment, but once its ready we’re sure it’ll be a big success. Retirement can feel harder and harder to prepare for every day as the cost of living keeps going up, so we believe Equity Release to be a good alternative to offer. By releasing the equity locked within a person’s home, they are given the option to receive either a lump sum or monthly pay-outs and best of all, they won’t even lose the house! We’ll be specialising in Lifetime Mortgages, which you can learn more about by reading our last blog covering our sister companies.

FACT OF THE MONTH

34% of the UK population incorrectly believe that there is no way to reduce the risk of dementia in old age.

THE NEWS FROM OUR FRIENDS

British Friendly

A big congratulations to our friends at British Friendly whose Income Protection Products have earned them a 5-star rating from Defaqto, the leading independent reviewer of financial services, for the 4th year running! They believe this “shows the consistent quality of [their] Income Protection offering” and we couldn’t be happier to be working with such an outstanding insurer.

Metlife

MetLife have paid out £8.6 million across 11,400 protection claims in 2018. This is a record high for the insurer, with almost half of pay-outs going to broken bones. However, this comes in the wake of their recent adviser survey suggesting clients still aren’t too keen on buying individual protection. Richard Horner, head of individual protection at MetLife, has said it is “crucial that claims are handled efficiently and with sympathy” to encourage more customers to protect themselves.

THE NEWS FROM THE INDUSTRY

Communication Issues

Speaking at the ABI Annual Conference, Amanda Blanc, chief executive of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Zurich, has pointed to faults in client communication as the cause of most dissatisfaction with insurers, rather than the actual product. She said: “I speak to customers who have complained and the vast majority of times it’s not something we’ve done wrong, it’s the way we have communicated it… I think that’s a fundamental issue for us.” We at Fuse Assurance have taken on this advice, and will strive for better communication in 2019.

Defaqto Tool Launch

The financial research group has last month launched a new tool that will compare critical illness insurance products from across the entire market. It will score the products by what illness and conditions they cover, making it easier for advisers to find the right policy for their customers. This follows a recent trend of financial research and advice companies launching apps and comparison tools to make the insurance industry easier to understand for all.

COVER OF THE MONTH

With so many new projects underway, we thought we’d take this Cover of The Month back to our roots and look into good old-fashioned Life Insurance.

By insuring yourself for a fixed amount should the worst happen, you can protect your family’s financial future no matter when you need to claim on your policy. With Fuse Assurance, our expert advisers will dedicate themselves to finding you the perfect cover at the lowest possible premiums, so you can carry on knowing that someone always has your back.
