The Merge – February
Your Life Insurance Newsletter courtesy of Fuse Assurance
With January out of the way and our new year’s resolutions (hopefully) intact, we’re feeling the love for February, and all the good things the rest of 2019 will bring!
We’re Hiring! And Helping Our Local Community
When we first moved our offices to Stoke-On-Trent, we did not expect the warm welcome we got, allowing us to continue to grow into the brand we are today. Now, with the announcement that 388 Ageas Insurance employees will lose their jobs with the closure of their Stoke-On-Trent call centre, its our turn to give back.
We’ve launched our biggest recruitment drive yet, offering multiple positions across all our departments. We want both these unfortunate Ageas employees and others in the community to apply, but we need your help. Visit our careers page here, as well as our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, and spread the word. Help us get people back into work and reach new heights as a company, so we can give even more back to the community in the future.
Healthy Living Sparks a Year’s Worth of Deals
After 31 days and 10 (yes, 10) blogs, we’ve finally completed our series on healthy living. We’ve helped people start off on the right foot, recommended exercises for the busy, the old, the young and the injured, shared our favourite lunch, dinner and blender recipes, before finishing off with tips to help carry those changes into the rest of the year.
The reception of these blogs has been great so far and we can’t thank you enough. Our offer of three months free gym membership was also received pretty well, so we’ve got another special offer for you for this February. If you buy an Income Protection Insurance policy with us this month, you’ll get your first month absolutely free. Sound good? Then why not give us a call right now on 0161 826 9990 and see what else our friendly advisers can do for you.
FACT OF THE MONTH
44% of stress, depression or anxiety issues in the workplace are caused by an employee’s workload.
THE NEWS FROM OUR FRIENDS
We’ve got a new friend!
Say hello to British Friendly, who joined us as a new insurance partner recently. They are a Long-Term Income Protection specialist who saw massive growth and paid out on 94.7% of claims in 2018. Welcome guys, lets do our best together in 2019!
A new subsidiary of Royal London, ROYAL LONDON INSURANCE DAC, has opened in Ireland. The move has given Irish Life Insurance customers more options, protected those with British-based policies from Brexit uncertainty and created 20 new jobs in Dublin. Tim Harris, Deputy Chief Executive of Royal London, said: “By setting up this subsidiary, we intend to grow our Irish business further and to see it thrive as an integral part of the Royal London family.”
Congratulations to Professor Willie Hamilton, LV’s Chief Medical Advisor, who was awarded a CBE in this years New Year’s Honours List for services to improving early cancer diagnosis. His research has created tools that allow GPs to detect cancer in its early stages. “The UK has historically lagged well behind the rest of Europe on cancer survival,’ says Professor Hamilton, ‘but we’re starting to turn that around. It’s truly gratifying to be part of that.”
THE NEWS FROM THE INDUSTRY
An adviser and his colleagues have been dismissed from Lifesearch Partners Limited after they mocked and insulted a customer while he was still on call to them. The adviser thought he had hung up on “Mr O”, but had re-dialed without realising. Mr O has now received a full apology and a £2,000 settlement was agreed before the issue could be taken to court.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has told insurers that they have become aware of an increasing number of misleading Over-50s Cover adverts. They have asked that providers refer to the Association of British Insurers’ guidance when promoting that they can cover all funeral costs, as most Over-50s policies cannot. Benefits must be presented in a “fair, clear and non-misleading way”, they have warned.
